The Virginian Pilot December 2, 1966
NORFOLK - Charles Stephenson Hughes Jr., 61, of 1200 Redgate Ave., the husband 
of Mrs. Alice Fulford Hughes and a son of Charles S. Hughes Sr. and Mrs. 
Katherine Gardner Hughes, died in a hospital Wednesday.
A native of Arlington, N.J., he lived here most of his life. He was an 
Episcopalian. Surviving, besides his widow, are a son, Charles S. Hughes III of 
Charlottesville; three sisters, Mrs. Estelle Camp of Chicago, Mrs. Sarah
Hughlett of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Frances Lee of Jacksonville, Fla.; a 
brother, George E. Hughes Sr. of Norfolk; and four grandchildren. A funeral 
service will be conducted in Twiford Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. 
Joseph W. Buchanan of Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery. The family has requested that flowers be omitted.
