The Norfolk Virginian Pilot January 8, 1955
Mrs. Sadie Prudence Hugo, 77, widow of Randolph Von Hugo and daughter of 
William Amos Brown and Mrs. Sarah Phillips Brown, died yesterday at 10:20 a.m. 
at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Francis W. Hugo, 324 Hugo Avenue, 
Norview, after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Norfolk, she was a charter member of the Norview 
Methodist Church and an honorary member of the board of Stewards of the church.
Surviving are one son, Roland V. Hugo, of Norfolk; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary 
L. Fix, of Norfolk; one stepson, Randolph B. Hugo of Norfolk; four sisters, 
Mrs. T.W. Upton, of Raleigh, N.C.; Mrs. Henrietta B. Roberts, Mrs. Fred R. 
Walker and Mrs. Sanderson Payne, of Norfolk; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Norview Methodist Church tomorrow at 
3 p.m. by the Rev. Raleigh H. Mann, pastor, and the Rev. George Wesley Jones, 
pastor of the High Street Methodist Church, Petersburg. The body will be taken 
from the Derry-Twiford Funeral Home to the church one hour prior to the hour of 
the services. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
