H.H. Hume, 57, Victim of Death
Funeral for Former Realty Man Set for Tomorrow Morning

Hartwell Heath Hume, 57, former real estate agent, life insurance salesman and 
WPA official, died yesterday morning at 11:20 o’clock at his residence, 15 
Pelham Place, after a long illness.
A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of the late John Hodges Hume and Mrs. 
Anna Peebles Hume. He was at one time one of the outstanding golfers of this 
section.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Susan Pendleton Howard Hume, he is survived by two 
daughters, Mrs. Robert Esslinger and Mrs. William Cox, and three grandchildren, 
of Arlington; four brothers, Charles G. James and Julien Hume of Norfolk, and 
Thomas Hume, of Richmond, and one sister, Mrs. Collins Hill, of Norfolk.
Funeral services will be held at the residence Saturday morning at 11 o’clock 
with the Rev. W. Taylor Willis, D.D., rector of Christ and St. Luke’s Church, 
officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
