Norfolk Virginian Pilot July 26, 1936
Mrs. Annie Ruth Humphries, aged 76, died at her residence, Fentress, Norfolk 
County, yesterday afternoon at 12:12 o'clock after a brief illness.  She was a 
native of Norfolk County and had made her home in this section all her life.  
She was the daughter of the late Camelious and Mrs. Lucie Wickings Sykes and 
widow of John Robert Humphries.  She is survived by a nephew, Rowland Sykes, of 
Norfolk; eight nieces, Mrs. J.C. Sykes, Mrs. Coles Durfee and Miss Josephine 
Sykes, all of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Mrs. Carol B. Colonna, Sr., Mrs. Cary 
Vellines, Mrs. Ida L. Nash, Mrs. J.M. Lawrence and Mrs. Eleanor L. Wilson, all 
of Norfolk and one cousin, Mrs. John Montague, of Colerain, N.C.
The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, Jefferson and Jackson Streets, 
South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at 4 
o'clock.  Burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
