He was a son of the late Malachi and Mrs. Matilda Cartwright Humphries, of Camden, N.C., but had lived in this section 32 years, where he had become well known and esteemed. He had served in the police department several years but had been engaged in the real estate sales business during the last several years of his life. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Martha Humphries; a son, Mack Humphries; two brothers, T.C. and K.R. Humphries and a sister, Mrs. Zack Quidley, all of South Norfolk. The funeral will be conducted at the above residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
