Virginian Pilot June 29, 1901  

The funeral of Mr. Samuel W. Humphries, whose death occurred at 5 o'clock 
Thursday morning, took place at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon from his late 
residence, No. 702 Chestnut Street. The Rev. Dr. J.C.C. Newton, pastor of Owens 
Memorial M.E. Church, officiated, and the body was interred in Magnolia 
Cemetery, Berkley.

The remains of the late Samuel Humphries were interred in Magnolia Cemetery 
yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The deceased was a brother of Officer J.T. 
Humphries and Mr. P.L. Humphries, of this place.
