Humphries of the 2400 block of West Ave. died Oct. 6, 2003. A native of Norfolk, she was the widow of Ernest Humphries Sr. and retired as a self-employed beautician. Mrs. Humphries was a member of Basilica of St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception, the Women's Club, the Golden Years, Mount Olive Baptist Church, Norfolk and Linwood Civic League. Survivors include two daughters, Judy James (Michael Sr.) of Norfolk and Carol Wright (Willie) of Virginia Beach; a son, Ernest T. Humphries Jr. (Diane) of Virginia Beach; a sister, Marion Carter of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception by the Rev. Ernest L. Bulida. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends at 5945 Lockamy Lane, Norfolk. Community Funeral Home, Norfolk chapel, is in charge.
