A native of Norfolk, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended the Norfolk Division of Virginia State College. She was employed by the Norfolk Naval Base and retired from the Naval Amphibious Base and Goodman Segar Hogan. Survivors include a son, Barnabas M. Hunter of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Leah H. Turner of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; two sisters, Aurelia C. Archer and Audrey A. Robinson, both of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; three great-grandsons; four nieces; five nephews; 15 great-nieces; 11 great-nephews; and a host of close relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John A.M.E. Church, Bute St., by the Rev. Larry S. Hinton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hale Funeral Home and will assemble there at noon the day of the service. The remains will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Friday.
