James Joseph Hurley, Sr., aged 87 years, son of the late John and Mrs. Mary 
Kickham Hurley, a native of Ireland, and a resident of this section for the past 
three years, died Monday night at 11:25 o'clock at the residence, 412 Twenty-third 
street, Virginia Beach, Va. Surviving him are five sons, James Joseph Hurley, Jr., 
of Virginia Beach; Richard, John, Charles and Patrick Hurley, of England; four 
daughters, the Misses Mabel, Aileen, Emmie and Kitty Hurley, of England; and 21 
grandchildren. Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 
1501 Colonial avenue, to Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, of which 
he was a member, for services this morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk.
