He retired after 37 years as a supervisor at the Naval Air Rework Facility. He was born in Norfolk and was the son of the late Charlotte Granville Burton and Alvah B. Hyslop Sr. He attended Bayside Christian United Church of Christ, was a member of Owens Masonic Lodge No. 164 and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his beloved wife, Norma B. Hyslop of Jacksonville; two daughters, Cheryl H. Newell of Sacramento, Calif., and Susan H. Ballard of Olympia, Wash.; two sons, Alvah B. ``Skip'' Hyslop III of Virginia Beach and John K. Hyslop of Jacksonville, Fla; five grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery by Dr. Richard E. Prince. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday for visitation.
