Born February 15, 1948. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Charles M. Yerby, Jr. and Mabel Lawler Yerby, and her infant son, Matthew Phillip Inman. She attended Sacred Heart School and Maury High School. She worked for 28 years as a dedicated medical secretary for the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. Nancy's kind, generous heart and warm humor endeared her to the countless friends she made everywhere she went, and she was adored by her family. Nothing was more fun than brothers and sister, with in-laws, nieces, and nephews in tow, wedged in together for family visits at Nancy and Butch's. Nancy made everything fun. She was also fearless in the defense of those she loved, and that tendency towards standing strong with courage carried her through 15 long years of Alzheimer's Disease, which she weathered with grit and grace. She is survived by her devoted and grateful husband of 42+ years, Raymond E. "Butch" Inman, Jr., sons Kenneth O'Neal Church (Cindy), Christopher Todd Church (April) and Benjamin Raymond Inman (Melissa); her brothers Charles M. Yerby III (Ida), John Lawler "Pat" Yerby, (Sue), and sister Judith Yerby Burke (Ed); 5 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many loved and loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Sweet Girl, Maggie. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3, from 5-7 pm at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 1501 Colonial Avenue, Norfolk VA, and a "Thankful for Nancy" service will be held Saturday, Dec. 4th at 10 a.m., also at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. Masks will be required for the visitation and the service, regardless of vaccination status. The family would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff and residents of Commonwealth Senior Living at The Ballentine, whose love and care carried Nancy, and all of us, through a difficult, but often joyous, journey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association Southeastern Virginia Chapter with all our thanks. Online condolences may be offered to the family at hdoliver.com.
