Irwin, son of Mrs. Cecelia Irwin, of 316 Washington street, this city, died in New York last Thursday, following an operation for appendicitis. He was 39 years old, and was employed by the Standard Oil Company, in the Metropolis, for the last seven years. Prior to that time, he was connected with the general offices of the Seaboard Air Line Railway, in this city. He was popularly known in Portsmouth to a wide acquaintance. Mr. Irwin was a brother of Rev. M. A. Irwin of Newton Grove, N.C., and is survived by other brothers and sisters as follows: R. C, F. X., J. D. Irwin of this city; C. J. Irwin of Buffalo, N.Y., the Misses Bridget A. and Cecelia Irwin and Mrs. F. J. Hulcher of Portsmouth. The body will be brought to Portsmouth, and will be conveyed to the residence of his sister, Mrs. Frank Hulcher, 615 London street. The funeral service of Owen P. Irwin, son of Mrs. Cecelia Irwin, of this city, who died last Thursday in the French hospital, New York, following an operation for appendicitis, will take place at 10 o’clock this morning in St. Paul’s Catholic church. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s cemetery, Norfolk.
