She was predeceased by her husband, Harlan E. Jackson. She was also predeceased by her husband, Juan Puga Freire and a daughter, Maria del Carmen Freire Story. Alba was predeceased by her parents, Juan Miguel Gomez and Maria del Carmen Gomez and five siblings, Manuela Kannon, Lillian Pena and Bernard, Albert and Robert Gomez. She is survived by her son, John Freire and his wife Sophia, Rita J. Lupton and her husband Fred, Susan J. Haas and her husband Larry; grandchildren, Debby F. Watson, Cindy F. Dean, Brenda F. Pavey, Jacob Lupton, Courtney L. Fitzpatrick, Casey and Alex Haas; and eight great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren. She is also survived by nephews, Michael, Pat, Dennis, Tony, Charles, Mark and Bernie Gomez and Robert Pena; also, nieces, Linda G. Strickler and Kate G. Rivers. Alba leaves to cherish her memory many friends, neighbors and family members. In her life, she traveled to many parts of the world including many visits to Spain where she often visited her father's family in Comillas, Spain, and remained in contact with them throughout her life. The family would like to thank, with heartfelt appreciation, the loving care Alba received from her caregivers especially Tywana, Natasha, Miss Irene, Kina, Wanda and Michelle and the wonderful hospice nurses, Sally, Pat and Virginia. Family visitation will be Tuesday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. in All Saints Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach. Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.
