Jackson Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Jackson; mother, Fannie Mae Skinner Jackson; brothers, Francis Lilburn and Jernon Jackson; sisters, Sadie Jackson Owens and Indee Jackson Read. William is survived by his sons, Raymond Keith Jackson of Cayucus, Calif., William A. Jackson Jr. and Mark Allen Jackson of Norfolk; his daughter, Carol Anne Creekmore Reavis of Jacksonville, Fla.; as well as grandchildren, nieces, and great nephews. William served in the 10th Mountain Division with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Italian Theatre. He was a retiree of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 35 years of service. He was an active member of the Little Creek Lions Club, enjoyed his family, and had hobbies of golf and vegetable gardening. He will be missed, and dad, "we love you and God bless." A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in St. Pius X Catholic Church by Fr. Venancio R. Balarote. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, Monday from 7 until 8 p.m. for visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
