On April 9, 1997, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, God called Willie Mae home.

Willie Mae was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Ahoskie, N.C., to the late Augustus and
Rachel Askew. She received her elementary and high school education from the
Ahoskie school system.

She was a devoted and faithful member of New Calvary Baptist Church for more
than 50 years and was a member of the Deaconess Board.

She is survived by her brother, James Askew of Chesapeake; devoted niece,
Patricia ``Carol'' Collins of Norfolk; two sisters-in-law, Reba Askew of Norfolk
and Carry Askew of Chesapeake; four nieces; four nephews; cousins and a host of
other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted Monday, April 14, 1997, at noon in New Calvary
Baptist Church, Norfolk, by Dr. G.G. Campbell Jr. The body will lay in state at
10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. The family will be at
2723 Woodland Ave., Norfolk.
