Demus W. Jacocks died at his residence, 613 Liberty street on May 12 after a long 
illness. Funeral services were held May 22 at St. James AME Church with the Rev. 
R. J. Brown officiating. He was an old member of the St. James Church and was well 
known by old residents of the Southside. He is survived by his widow, three 
daughters, and two sons. Interment was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery with Fitchett and 
Bell in charge.
