She had been in failing health for sometime, but was a hospital patient only a few days. A funeral service will be held Saturday at First Baptist Church, Bute street, at 1:30 with the pastor, the Rev. E. Paul Simms, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Hale Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Jacocks was born in Elizabeth City, NC, and was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Mrs. Margaret Fleming Turner. She was a graduate of State Normal Institute now Elizabeth City State University at Elizabeth City, NC. She was married to Moses Jacocks and to this union were born three sons, Calvin Moses Jacocks and Milton Lecont Jacocks, both of Norfolk, and Shelton Fleming Jacocks, Philadelphia. Mrs. Jacocks was a member of First Baptist Church, Bute street, and a former active deaconess. She was a faithful member of the Mamie E. Gordon Missionary Society and the Get Together Circle until declining health prevented her regular attendance. In civic and fraternal organizations she assumed leadership roles, serving as past worthy matron of Elizabeth Chapter No. 3 of the Order of Eastern Star, and she was the founder and organizer of the Ella Jacocks Chapter of the American War Mothers. She was a former state president of the Virginia Parent-Teachers Association and served as president of three local PTA chapters. She was the first president of the Lott Carey School PTA. Mrs. Jacocks’ interest in family welfare extended beyond her family home. She was often mother and nurse for young people who needed sympathetic care and a home-like atmosphere.
