Jacox, at the age of 85 years. She was a native of Edenton, N.C., but had been in Norfolk since before the close of the Civil War. Mrs. Jacox was a most active church worker, being a member of the First Baptist Church and founder of the "Know Nothing Club: of the same. She was identified with every department of the church s well as being one of the most faithful members of the United Order of Tents. The funeral took place at the First Baptist Church, Monday afternoon, December the 18th, and was largely attended. Rev. R.J. Howling had charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. F.W, Williams, J.R. Custis and others. There was a profusion of flowers. The remains were laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
