Jakeman, 88, Retired Shipyard Supervisor, Dies Funeral services for Charles Arthur Jakeman, 88, retired Naval Shipyard supervisor, who died yesterday at 2:50 a.m. will be conducted at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments tomorrow at 3 p.m.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Jakeman was a son of Lt. Arthur Jakeman and Mrs. Sarah Jordan Jakeman, of Norfolk.  He had lived here all his life, and at the time of his death was residing at 1031 Bolling Avenue. He was an employee of the Norfolk Naval shipyard for 42 years, first as a machinist, then as a shop supervisor.  At his retirement in 1926, a large gathering of his fellow workers presented him a gold watch. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. Although retired for more than 20 years, Mr. Jakeman had been active almost until his death. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Mattie J. Petty, Mrs. John O. Rice and Mrs. E.L. Cooke, all of Norfolk; three sons, Arthur Drew Jakeman and Leroy L. Jakeman, both of Norfolk and Raymond P. Jackson, of Erwin, N.C.; three grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
