NORFOLK — Arthur Drew Jakenman, 83, of 4305 Newport Ave., the husband of the 
late Mrs. Sarah Jeanette Hall Jakeman and a son of Charles Arthur and Mrs. Mary 
Bennie Drew Jakeman, died in a hospital Monday at 2:45 pm.
He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk.
He was an honorary 55-year member of Norfolk Masonic Lodge 1, Norfolk Royal Arch 
Chapter 1, and a deacon of Knox Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joseph D. Burroughs of Norfolk; four sons, 
Robert Jakeman and Allen C. Jakeman of Norfolk, Lawrence W. Jakeman of Virginia 
Beach and Charles W. Jakeman of Silver Spring, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. E. L. 
Cooke and Mrs. Jennie J. Rice of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and a great-
grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Wednesday at 
noon by the Rev. James H. Nowell of Knox Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9.
