He had been a resident of Norfolk for 75 years and followed for many years the vocation of a carpenter. During the War Between the States Mr. James enlisted in the Confederate Army and served his state and country throughout that memorable struggle. The deceased was the last and only living male charter member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, this city. He is survived by a widow and two sons, Messrs. Charles E. and C. L. James. The funeral will take place from the Freemason Street Baptist Church this afternoon at 4 o’clock. The interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
