The Norfolk Virginian Pilot September 8, 1944 

John Thomas James, Jr., 80, husband of Mrs. Pattie Berryman James, died at the 
residence Thursday afternoon after a
long illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk.  He was the son of the 
late John T. and Mary Boggs Jones (sic James).  He was a charter member of the 
B.P.O. Elks, Lodge No. 821, Hinton, W.Va. Besides his wife he is survived by a
sister, Mrs. Rosa Lee James Eubanks, of Richmond.
Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of James V. Derry tomorrow 
afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. 
Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
