Chesapeake - Clarence James of 825 Goff St., formerly was a policeman with the 
New York City Police Department, died Wednesday, December 12 in a hospital.

A native of Norfolk, he was the husband of the late Margaret James.  He was a 
former member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Gloria James of New York;  two sisters, Shirley 
Mitchell of Virginia Beach and Ruth Stiff of Portsmouth;  and a brother, Willie 
James of Chesapeake.

A funeral service was held December 15 in Graves Funeral Chapel by Dr. Johnnie 
L. White Sr.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.  Graves Funeral Home had charge.
