NORFOLK - Bernice G. James passed away Nov. 4, 2006, at Bon Secours DePaul 
Medical Center. Bernice was born Jan. 28 in New York to the late Estelle Green. 
She was a member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, where she 
has served as a greeter and member of the Bereavement Committee. Bernice was a 
former member of the Soup Kitchen, Pantry, Homeless Committee, Clean Up Crew and 
Fellowship Committee. Bernice was predeceased by her brother, Charlie Green and 
grandmother, Bessie Austin. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Virginia James of Norfolk; two daughters, 
Millicent James and Pamela Long, both of Norfolk; one son, Charles Michael Green 
(Willie Mae) of Suffolk; four grandchildren, Charles Michael Green Jr. of 
Norfolk, Jamison Green and Jerri Green of Suffolk and Corrine Lang of Norfolk; 
two great-grandchildren, Briah Green of Norfolk and Shiwon Green of Chesapeake; 
brother- in-law, Quinton James (Shirley) of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Helen 
Parsons of Norfolk; niece, Donna James of Florida; nephews, David Parsons, 
William Lomack, Neal James and Columbus James, all of Norfolk; and a host of 
other relatives and friends. 

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at noon Thursday in the Basilica of St. 
Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel St., Norfolk, with the Rev. Ernest 
L. Bulinda officiating. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery , Norfolk. Family 
and friends will assemble at 2834 Davis St. one hour prior to the service for 
the procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Chapel, is in 
charge. Condolences may be offered to the family at
