Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch October 22, 1919
Mrs. Mattie E. Jarvis, wife of H. S. Jarvis, passed away at 4:45 o'clock this 
morning, at the residence, 731 Windsor avenue, after a short illness, aged 64 
years. Mrs. Jarvis was a lady of beautiful life and character, and was loved by 
all who had the privilege of her acquaintance. She was a member of Spurgeon 
Memorial Baptist church, where the funeral will be held tomorrow, the pastor, Rev. 
R. J. Dorgan, officiating. The burial will be in Elmwood. The deceased is survived 
by her husband, two sons, R. M. and F. B. Jarvis, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Gornto, 
all of Norfolk.
