Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch May 21, 1914
Mrs. Rachel F. Jarvis, widow of John William Jarvis and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 
John R. Pritchard, died yesterday afternoon at the family residence, 912 West 
Fairfax avenue, in her fifty-first year. She was a native of Portsmouth but had 
resided in Norfolk forty years and was well-known and highly esteemed. She is 
survived by two boys, Eugene and William Jarvis, two daughters, Helen and Frances 
Jarvis, her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Maggie L. Loughbridge, Mrs. T. A. J. 
McNeill and Mrs. Grace E. Mosely, and three brothers, Frank J., Harry R. and John 
R. Pritchard, Jr., all of Norfolk. The funeral will be held at the residence at 4 
p.m. tomorrow, Rev. R. A. Robinson officiating. Burial in Elmwood cemetery.
