NORFOLK – John Cooke Jarvis, Jr., 69, of Buckingham Ave., passed away on Sat., 
March 14. Born in Norfolk, he was the son of the late Jean Stephens Jarvis and 
John C. Jarvis. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member 
of the Writers Guild of America. John graduated from Maury High School in "The 
Lost Class" of 1959. He received his B.A. degree in English and a M.A. in 
Humanities from old Dominion University. John was a professional writer and 
computer software programmer for his own company, StoryCraft, Inc., which 
offers music and writing instruction to the public. He was a co-founder, with 
Irwin Berent, of "Story and Myth: The Online Journal of Classic Story Writing". 
His published works include the e-book "The Wagner Companion", the audio 
book "Wagner and the Second Renaissance", and the radio drama on CD of Wagner's 
short story "End in Paris" He also worked as a radio announcer and producer at 
WRVC-FM until 1968, and after that at WGH-FM, WTMG-FM, WHRO-FM, and local News 
Radio Station WNIS. He is survived by three cousins. John had requested that 
there not be a memorial service and he will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery with 
his family. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel is handling arrangements.
