Born in Norfolk, he was the son of the late Jean Stephens Jarvis and John C. Jarvis. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Writers Guild of America. John graduated from Maury High School in "The Lost Class" of 1959. He received his B.A. degree in English and a M.A. in Humanities from old Dominion University. John was a professional writer and computer software programmer for his own company, StoryCraft, Inc., which offers music and writing instruction to the public. He was a co-founder, with Irwin Berent, of "Story and Myth: The Online Journal of Classic Story Writing". His published works include the e-book "The Wagner Companion", the audio book "Wagner and the Second Renaissance", and the radio drama on CD of Wagner's short story "End in Paris" He also worked as a radio announcer and producer at WRVC-FM until 1968, and after that at WGH-FM, WTMG-FM, WHRO-FM, and local News Radio Station WNIS. He is survived by three cousins. John had requested that there not be a memorial service and he will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery with his family. H. D.
