This group met at the First Presbyterian Church for ten years under her direction and was sponsored by the church. An alumnus of Virginia State College, Petersburg, Mrs. Javins studied at Hampton Institute and Virginia Union University. She wrote a pageant, “Norfolk’s Unwritten History” which made a hit with the public when it was presented at the old armory on City Hall avenue. Mrs. Javins is survived by one daughter, Miss F. Marie Javins, a Norfolk teacher, a sister, Mrs. Minnie Johnson, Bowers Hill; a niece, Mrs. Violette Johnson Sawyer, Washington DC; and other relatives.
