Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, September 25, 1990 
James P. ``Geechie'' Jefferson, a retired shortshoreman, died Sept. 21, 1990, in
a hospital.

Mr. Jefferson, a native of Timmonsville, S.C., had retired after 29 years. He
was a member of International Longshoreman's Association, Local 1458.

Survivors include five daughters, Faye Bates, Lorraine Addison and Marjorie
Jones, all of Norfolk, Donesses Baker of Virginia Beach and Della Jefferson of
Chesapeake; five sons, Calvin Bunch of Woodbridge, Ronnie Jefferson and Cornell
Jefferson, both of Norfolk, Darryl Jefferson of Germany and Donnell Jefferson of
Virginia Beach; three sisters, Susie Jefferson of Richmond, Lucille Miller of
Timmonsville and Annie Mae Forster of Hempstead, N.Y.; five brothers, Edmond
Jefferson of Washington, D.C., Sam Jefferson and Charlie Jefferson, both of
Timmonsville, Alfonza Jefferson of Hempstead and Roosevelt Jefferson of Boston;
25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hale Funeral Home by the
Rev. Hiram White Jr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Friends may join the
family at 975 Widgeon Road.
