A native of Roxobel, N.C., she was a daughter of Jim and Mrs. Isabella Burden and the widow of William W. Jenkins Sr. She worked for Royal Crown Bottling Co. of Norfolk 23 years and was a member of the Gospel Chorus, Widows Club and Missionary Circle of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point; Excelsior Chapter 82, Order of Eastern Star; and Arabia Court 22, Daughters of Isis. She is survived by a son, John T. Burden, and a stepson, William W. Jenkins Jr., both of Norfolk; four brothers, James Thomas Burden of Ahoskie, N.C.and Edney Burden, Newbern Burden and David Burden of Norfolk; a sister, Mrs. Otelia Winfield of Norfolk; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in First Baptist Church by the Rev. O.B. Burson. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Riddick Funeral Service in charge.
