Jenkins, "Ray", of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2015 at the age of 91. A native of Richmond, VA, Mr. Jenkins retired from the U.S. Navy after 31 years of service. Mr. Jenkins was a devoted member of the Gideons - Williamsburg (Camp). He was a former member of the Great Bridge Baptist Church and taught there for 22 years. For the past seven years he was a member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Williamsburg. Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Gladys H. Jenkins; his parents Thomas F. and Mabel E. Jenkins; his five sisters, Edna Barber, Joyce Koon, Ruby McDonough, Patricia Pridgen, and Betty-Jo Jenkins; and five brothers, Durward, Thomas, Bruce, John, and Lewis Jenkins. Ray is survived by his two daughters, Regenia Regambal and Betty-Jo Taylor (Tim); his son, Charles T. Jenkins; his eight grandchildren, Jamie, Sharon, Michael, Douglas, Angela, Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew, Maxwell; and seven great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Jenkins (Marian) and his two sisters, Mabel Snellings and Phyllis Harmon. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 10, at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, 1014 Jamestown Rd in Williamsburg, at 11:00am, with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Jenkins has requested that donations be made to the Gideons International for Bibles in Memory of Vernon R. Jenkins. There are two very "special" gentlemen that the family wishes to acknowledge for their constant and consistent loving friendship that ran very deep - Mr. Ernie Courier and Mr. Pete Fowler. The family of Vernon R.
