Mrs. Jenkins was a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late William Ashby Godwin and Isabel Larmour Godwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, William MacKenzie Jenkins, and her grandson, Edward Roane Willcox III. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk, the Junior League of Norfolk and the Garden Club of Norfolk. Mrs. Jenkins was a graduate of the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and attended Smith College. She served for a number of years on the board of directors of the Council of Social Agencies, now the Planning Council. In 1942, she was appointed director of the Civilian Defense Volunteer Office in Norfolk. She was the founder, with Mabel Burroughs Tyler, of the Norfolk Mental Hygiene Center. Survivors include a daughter, Ashby Jenkins Willcox of Norfolk; a son, William MacKenzie Jenkins Jr. of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Westmore Claiborne Willcox, Margaret Willcox Fernan, William MacKenzie Jenkins III and Jean Jenkins Watts; and seven great-grandchildren. A church service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk by the Rev. Tim Roberts. Burial will be private at Elmwood Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
