A native of Norfolk, Mr. Jernigan retired form the Ford Motor Company after 37 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church and the Knights of Pythian No. 10 of Norfolk. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anne R. Jernigan; a daughter, Sandra B. Henley of Chesapeake; two grandsons, Blair F. Henley of Johnson City, Tenn. and Kyle W. Henley of Holiday, Fla.; four great-grandsons; two nieces, Thelma Forbes and her husband Malcolm and Elizabeth Toler and her husband Jim all of Chesapeake; and a nephew, James L. Jernigan of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his step son, Garland G. Beasley. A funeral will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Speight officiating. The burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
