Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Jethro, a well-known and respected lady, departed this life 
yesterday afternoon at 4:15 o’clock, at the home of her niece, Mrs. J. Mark 
Jones, on Maple Avenue. The deceased was in the 69th year of her age, and for a 
number of years had been a consistent member of Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. 
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. H.W. Jellison of this place, Mrs. W.B. 
Bassett, of Norfolk, and Mrs. R.G. Bassett, of Washington, D.C. Her death was 
sudden and unexpected, she having been ill for two days, but had been in 
declining health for several years. The funeral will take place from the 
Berkley Avenue Baptist Church tomorrow afternoon at 4 o’clock and will be 
conducted by Rev. A.J. Ramsey, pastor of the church. The interment will be in 
Elmwood Cemetery.
