Norfolk - John Michael John, 85, died Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was a native of 
Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and has lived in Norfolk for 57 years. He was the son 
of the late Michael and Barbara Shiner John. Mr. John was a retired plumber/pipe 
fitter with the Local #110 Plumber/Pipe fitter Union. He was a Roman Catholic and 
a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 
Fr. Kealey Council, #3548. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, 
Catherine Decker John of Norfolk, his daughters; Barbara J. Christiansen of 
Norfolk, Pamela J. Vaughan and her husband, Russell of Norfolk and Mary Anne J. 
Telinde and her husband, Matthew of Norfolk, his brother, Leo M. John of 
Philadelphia, PA. He was also called Jidu by his adoring grandchildren; Morgan, 
Tyler and his wife Crystal, John, Mary, Alex, Kelsey, Lauren and his great-
granddaughter Mia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family 
would like to express their appreciation for the loving care provided by the 
Frieda H. Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care of Tidewater. The Funeral Mass will 
be celebrated in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 
AM. Reverend Father David Koch will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's 
Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Norfolk chapel of H.D. Oliver 
Funeral Apts., Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may 
be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Online condolences may be sent
