She was a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and a resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Barbara Shiner John. Sadie was a devoted Roman Catholic and was a member of The Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies of the Rosary. She was a Sultana with the International Order of the Alhambra, Padul Caravan #69. Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years, Nabbie G. John, Sr. and her children, Mary Barbara Thomas and her husband Martin of Virginia Beach, Paul J. John and his wife Debie and Nabbie G. John, Jr. and his wife Linda, all of Norfolk, her brothers Leo M. John and his wife Olga of Philadelphia and John M. John and his wife Catherine of Norfolk; six Grandchildren, Tonya J. Strickland, Martin A. Thomas, Jr., Rebecca T. Zborowski, Nabbie G. John, III, Chris P. John, John Paul Thomas and three great-grandchildren; Trevor, Martin III and Michael. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of M.E. Cox and Baylake Assisted Living Center for the wonderful care given to Sadie. The Funeral Mass will be held in The Church of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 1:00 PM by the Reverend Monsignor William Pitt. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. A Christian Wake service will be held in the Laskin Road Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Friday evening at 7:00 PM, followed by a visitation with the family until 8:00 PM.
