Norfolk - Patrick I. Johnakin, Sr. passed away June 30, 2015. He was a devoted 
husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Patrick was born in Norfolk, VA, 
and was preceded in death by his parents, Michael E. and Catherine Donovan 
Johnakin and sister, Agnes. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, 
Gale, and his children, Patrick, Maureen and Kevin Johnakin. He is also survived 
by his grandchildren, Brenna, Sean, Connor, Anne and Virginia, as well as his 
brother, Michael, sister, Cathy, and numerous nieces and nephews. Patrick was 
retired from the Norfolk Police Department and was a graduate of the University Of 
Virginia School Of Nuclear Medicine. A lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament 
Catholic Church, he will be remembered for his devotion to family and friends as 
well as his strength and courage during his long battle with cancer. The family 
will receive friends for visitation at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts. (Colonial Ave, 
Norfolk, VA) Sunday evening from 5-7. A Mass celebrating Patrick’s life will be 
held Monday at 11 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 
St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences may be left online at www.hdoliver.com
