Mr. Johnson was born in Princess Anne County. He was a member of St. Mark's A.M.E. Church and Senior Golfers of Virginia. Survivors include his wife, Maxine E. Johnson; eight daughters, Velma Haley, Constance Johnson, Jannie Shaw, Linda Johnson, Brenda Mallory, Patrice Hunter and Melody Riddick, all of Virginia Beach, and Maxine Edney of Silver Spring, Md.; five sons, William E. Johnson of New York, Thomas A. Johnson of Petersburg, Gerald M. Collins and Ronald Collins, both of Maryland, and Prentis Collins of California; two sisters, Mary Green and Thelma J. Gatlin, both of Virginia Beach; two brothers, John H. Johnson of Virginia Beach and Alfred Johnson of New York City; 33 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Mount Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Latham Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery .
