James Alfred Johnson, 53, of 2874 Liberia drive, was given last rites on 
Sunday at St. Paul CME Church, with the Rev. T. G. Kemp officiating. Burial 
was in Calvary Cemetery under direction of the Riddick Funeral Service.

A native of Norfolk, Mr. Johnson was a member of the Norfolk Social and 
Beneficial Association and a past exalted ruler of the Buffaloes.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Johnson; four sons, James Edward 
Johnson of Washington,Arthur H., Charles R. and Alfred B. Johnson of 
Norfolk; three daughters, Mrs. Madeline Lucas, Mrs. Jeanette Lassiter and 
Mrs. Carolyn Sturdivant, all of Norfolk; and two brothers, John S. Johnson 
and Paul Johnson, also of Norfolk.
