Norfolk - Final rites for  James Edward Johnson of 823 Avenue C were held Sunday 
in New Calvary Baptist Church.  The Rev. Van W. Mouring officiated.  Burial was 
in Calvary Cemetery with Citizens Funeral Home in charge.  Mr. Johnson died July 
16 in his home.

A native of Elizabeth City, NC, he was the  husband of Mrs. Mable Johnson, and 
the son of Spance Johnson and Mrs. Overton Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was self-
employed and member of New Calvary Church and Excelsior Masonic lodge.

Besides his widow, he is survived by a brother, Rufus Johnson of Elizabeth City.
