Johnson Jr., also called "Buddy James" and "Jimmy," of the 100 block of Indian River Road, a former laborer, died Jan. 24, 1994, in Norfolk. Mr. Johnson was born in Norfolk, son of the late James Anderson and Adelaide Johnson. He was formerly employed with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a former member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, Norfolk. He was a veteran of the Korean War and received several awards including the Purple Heart and Bronze Medal with three stars. Survivors include two sisters, Racheal Elizabeth Dales and Aliceteen Brickhouse, both of Norfolk; a foster brother, Issac Lee of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law, Arcelius F. Brickhouse Sr. and George Dales, both of Norfolk; an aunt, Rosa Mae Coles of Baltimore; seven nieces, Rosalee Evans, Gloria Tazewell, Annette J. Baldwin, Angela J. Roundtree, Melvina J. Evans, Johnotta Johnson and Courtney N. Evans; 10 nephews, Melvin R. Evans, Arcelius F. Brickhouse Jr., Raymond Tazewell, Ellie Johnson, James Albert Johnson, Melvin R. Evans Jr., George Evans, Shannon Evans, Kevin Baldwin and Corey Evans; and a host of relatives and friends. A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, Norfolk, 1141 Campostella Road, by Dr. Ronnie D. Joyner. The family will be at the home of Aliceteen Brickhouse, 816 Culpepper St., and will assemble there at 11 a.m. Friday for the funeral processional to the church.
