Johnson Dies at His Residence NORFOLK - Alphaeus Cornelius Johnson, 36, of 803 Washington Ave., died Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at his residence after a long illness. He was a son of Mrs. Indiana C. Johnson and the late Oscar F. Johnson. He was a native of Norfolk and was a retired Civil Service worker at the Public Works Center, Naval Base. He had worked there seven years before retirement on disability. He was a member of the Retired Government Workers Association, and St. John A.M.E. Church, where he served in the chancel choir. Besides his mother, surviving are one sister, Mrs. Marietta J. Davison and one foster sister, Mrs. Marietta Lewis, both of Norfolk; two brothers, Lafayette A. Johnson of Norfolk and Oscar C. Johnson of San Francisco, Calif., and one foster brother, John E. Custus of Norfolk. The body was taken to Riddick Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at St. John A.M.E. Church Monday at 3 p.m. by the Rev. W.L. Hildebrand, pastor. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at noon Monday.
