NORFOLK - Armstead Maurice Johnson Sr., 37, of 3748 N. Ingleside Drive, a native of
Norfolk, died Saturday in Chesapeake.

Mr. Johnson had owned and operated Marine Transport Inc. for 10 years. He was a
member of Norfolk United Methodist Church, Johnson's Trucking softball team and the
Owners-Operators Fund.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce V. Johnson; his parents, Lucy Johnson and Ezell B.
Johnson Sr. of Chesapeake; a daughter, Verron Michelle Johnson, and two sons,
Armstead Maurice Johnson Jr. and Shawn Thurston Johnson, all of Norfolk; a sister,
Lavera V. Johnson of New York; three brothers, Charles A. Johnson of Norfolk, Ezell
B. Johnson Jr. of Petersburg and Lloyd J. Johnson of Chesapeake; and a maternal
grandmother, Nannie Fitzgerald of Norfolk.

The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in First Baptist Church, Lamberts
Point, by Dr. M.L. Williams. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Hale Funeral Home
is in charge.

The family will be at the residence.
