VIRGINIA BEACH — Mrs. Alberta Petree Johnson, of 1012 Mayflower Apartments, the 
widow of Bayard (Ben) W. Johnson and retired secretary-treasurer of Security 
Storage & Van Corp., died Wednesday in her home.
She was a native of Norfolk and retired from the moving company after 30 years' 
service. She was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, the Norfolk-
Virginia Beach Soroptimist Club, and National Society of Colonial Dames of the 
XVII Century.
Survivors include two nephews, James Edward Schaeffer of Norfolk and Dr. Carlyn 
T. Mangum of Holland, N.C.; five nieces, Mrs. Doris D. Thatch, Mrs. Allyn D. 
Green, and Mrs. Carolyn D. Britt of Norfolk, Mrs. Ann M. Davis of Annandale, and 
Mrs. Peggy M. Simmons of Bethesda, Md.; 14 great-nieces and -nephews; and seven 
great-great-nieces and -nephews.
A funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Cox Funeral Home Chapel, Norfolk, by 
Dr. William L. Lumpkin. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. The family 
will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 for visitation. Memorial 
donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad or the American Cancer 
Society.
