VIRGINIA BEACH - Bayard (Ben) W. Johnson, 68, of 1012 Mayflower Apartments, 
retired manager of Baugh & Sons Fertilizer Co., died in a Norfolk hospital 
Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
A native of Norfolk, he was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. 
He was the husband of Mrs. Alberta Petree Johnson and a son of the late Edward 
and Mrs. Eula Johnson.
He was a member of Freemason Street Baptist Church, Norfolk Elks Lodge 38 and 
Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club.
Surviving, besides his widow, are two sisters, Mrs. Roberta J. Evans and Mrs. 
Elsie J. Wilkins of Norfolk.
A funeral service will be conducted in Cox Funeral Home Friday at 11 a.m. by Dr. 
William L. Lumpkin of Freemason Street Baptist Church, the Rev. Beverly T. White 
of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and the Rev. Lee O. Mortzfeldt of Miles 
Memorial Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will be at 742 Shirley Ave., his home.
