Virginian-Pilot January 3, 1958
NORFOLK - Edgar Temple Johnson, 83, son of Robert T. and Mrs. Kate Wright 
Johnson, died yesterday at 5:40 p.m. at a Norfolk hospital. He was a native of 
Richmond, and a resident of Norfolk for the past 47 years, residing at 1040 
Brandon Ave. at the time of his death.
Mr. Johnson was a chemist and was associated with the Birtcherd Dairy, Inc. for 
38 years, retiring in 1953. He was a member of the First Christian Church 
(Disciples) and a deacon emeritus of that church.
He is survived by a son, Maj. Douglas V. Johnson, Third Army, Fort McPherson, 
Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. William A. Reeves of Norfolk; a grandson, Douglas V. 
Johnson Jr., and a granddaughter, Jeanne Lee Johnson, both of Fort McPherson, 
Ga., and a brother, D. W. Johnson of Danville.
Funeral services will be conducted at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments 
Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. J. Stuart Wake, pastor of the First Christian 
Church (Disciples). Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
