Virginian-Pilot November 24, 1908
Edward R. Johnson, a mariner by vocation, died Saturday night, aged 73 years. The 
funeral was held from the funeral apartments of H. C. Smith, Bank street, at 11 
o'clock yesterday morning and was conducted by Rev. T. J. Taylor of Queen Street 
Methodist church. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery. Following were the 
pallbearers: West Lloyd, Quinton McCoy, Frank White, Captain Grandy, Tazewell 
Edwards and Edward Breathwaite.
