Virginian-Pilot December 14, 1961
NORFOLK — Ernest Linwood Johnson, 64, husband of Mrs. Sarah Butt Johnson, and 
son of William F. and Mrs. Mary Holland Johnson, died in a Norfolk hospital 
Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. Besides his widow, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. 
Elizabeth J. Harrison; two sons, Ernest L. Johnson Jr. and William J. Johnson; a 
sister, Mrs. Eva Irby Preuit, all of Norfolk; and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, lately at 9390 Granby St.
He was a member of Ocean View Masonic Lodge 335 and Royal Arch Chapter and was a 
Veteran of World War I.
Mr. Johnson was employed by Texaco Co. 39 years.
A funeral service will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Friday at 2 
p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at 8412 Cape View 
Ave.
