Norfolk Virginian April 5 & 7, 1896
Mr. Joshua Johnson died at his residence, No. 71 Avenue B, yesterday morning at 
9 o'clock, aged 60 years. Mr. Johnson was in the Confederate service. He was an 
invalid several years before his death. He leaves a family consisting of his 
wife and five children. His funeral will take place from his residence this 
afternoon at 4 o'clock.

The funeral of Mr. J. C. Johnson took place from his late residence, Avenue B, 
Huntersville, on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock and was attended by Pickett-
Buchanan Camp, Confederate Veterans, in a body. Comrade Rev. Mr. Virginius Wrenn 
conducted the services and the following members of the camp acted as 
pallbearers: Comrades John H. Day, Fred P. Bryan, John T. Hargrove and Henry 
Fink.
