Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Thursday, March 18, 1993 
Vista Kindred Johnson, of the 1000 block of Galt St., a retired computer
operator, died March 16, 1993, in Norfolk Health Care Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Norfolk. She had retired from the Navy Air Station
after 20 years. She was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Florence Phelps Glasper of Chesapeake and
Alberta Phelps Howell of Norfolk; a stepdaughter, Mildred Ann Ramsey of
Portsmouth; a son, Henry B. Phelps of New York City; three stepsons, Milton
Johnson and Clarence Johnson, both of Portsmouth and Darnell Johnson of
Chesapeake; a sister, Viola K. Griffin of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren;
and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Florence A. Kindred and Robert E. Kindred.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in First Calvary Baptist Church
by the Rev. Johnnie L. White. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Hale Funeral
Home is handling arrangements. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m.
Friday. Family will assemble at her daughter's home, 709 Round Bay Road,
Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, make donations to First Calvary Building Fund.
